Portland International Auto Show

Just as I've done every year since I was two or three years old, my dad and I took a trip down to the convention center for the annual Portland (Oregon) International Auto Show. Every year there are hundreds, maybe thousands of cars at the show, and with my absolute love for almost all cars, I go every year with my dad. When I was little, we went with another family, but even when they dropped out, we stayed faithful! Anyway, there's such a variety and contrast of cars; however, this year with the slowing economy and all, a whole lot of companies didn't even show up! (Nissan, Bently, and Rolls Royce are just some.)Anyway, the Auto Show was really fun, but it's dwindling down each year. It used to sell all different scales of cars (my dad and I really love 1:18 scale) at a huge stand in the lobby, but just about two years ago they stopped. My dad used to always buy me one for my birthday, but now we have to buy them on the web, which is not as fun.Well, no matter how much I love the Auto Show, and will always keep going, just for the fun of it, I would like all readers to know that I was very disappointed with it this year. Basically, I pray that when the economy goes up, so will the quiality of the Portland Auto Show.

Wreckedexotics.com

One of my favorite websites of all time is wreckedexotics.com. I'm really sick that way; I like checking out pics of wrecked cars. I'd say I'm kind of destructive!

Just recently, though, I read a blog where they take pictures and lable them "You're doing it wrong!" and when I saw this picture posted on wreckedexotics.com, that caption immediately popped into my head! Guess why!

My Thoughts on Cars

I don't love houses alone-I love cars. I love almost all cars, but there are some that I hate. If a car was made between 1980 and 2004, I will most likely hate the design. My dad's truck is a 2005, so I can't say I don't like that year, but 2006 is when character and style in cars really kicked back in.

I have loved cars almost my whole life-literally! At eighteen months old, I was playing weith my cousin Craig's mini cars! At age four, when my dad and I went on our first camping trip, the camp site across the road from ours had a Volkswagen Microbus in it. I thought it was such a cool car; I fell in love with it. I turned and asked my dad what kind of car it was, and he told me it was a VW Microbus. I have loved them ever since-no joke! Funny, almost everybody else I know hates them. My likes and dislikes for styles of cars are like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde., I guess. Anyway, my favorite dacades for automobiles are 1940-1960. The angles and styles in the fourties were just really cool in my opinion, and the fifties' styles were just perfect. All cars shpould have the styles of the fifties. Even though the angles in the sixties were typically hard, I still just love the look of them!

In Boy Scouts, as well, I just started the Auto Mechanics Merit Badge this Monday (1/11), so I'll try and keep you readers up to date on that; it should be interesting for all of us!
